Come experience “Hold Fast to Dreams: The Poetry of Langston Hughes”, a spirited new performance written by the acclaimed actor/playwright, Darius Wallace, with music created by Latin Grammy-nominated composer, pianist and bandleader, Jasnam Daya Singh. The Siletz Bay Music Festival is excited to offer this unique event for a two-day engagement at the Lincoln City Cultural Center.
The performance is a narration by Wallace as he builds a story around the poetic works of Langston Hughes. A central figure of the 1920’s Harlem Renaissance, Hughes’ evocative poetry played an important role in American literature and theater. As Wallace brings Langston’s words to life, his dramatic stage presentation will be enhanced melodically with a five-piece jazz ensemble led by Singh. This magical performance uses Langston’s works to tell the story of “a world and its people, each one brought to life through the magic of his poetry.”
